Tips on getting started

  1. Set realistic goals. If you lose just one pound per week, you will lose 16 pounds during the course of The Biggest Winner Weight Loss Challenge.
  2. Forget all of the diet books and fads. Just know that if you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight. It's that simple. If you eat less and start moving your body, you will lose weight.
  3. Whatever you do, don't get discouraged. You didn't gain all of that weight in one week so don't expect to lose it all in one week.
  4. The simplest form of exercise that everyone can do is walking! Instead of watching Oprah or Dr. Phil for an hour, put on your sneakers and head outside for a nice brisk walk. You'll burn calories and the fresh air and sunshine will do wonders for your spirit!
  5. If you slip up and eat some pizza or sneak a bowl of ice cream, that's OK. Don't beat yourself up over making mistakes. But next time, eat something healthy like a piece of fruit or drink a cold glass of water. You'll feel just as satisfied and you won't add unnecessary calories.
  6. Follow through for 10 days and you'll have created a new habit and amazingly enough as you start to shed the weight, your craving for junk food and empty calories will diminish. When that happens, you're well on your way to a fitter, slimmer you.
